The Great Mosque of Central Java, which is located at Gajah street, Semarang, is an icon to the people of Semarang and Central Java. It was inaugurated by RI President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on November 14, 2006 by signing on a stone monolith that originated from the hill of the Merapi mountain, Magelang regency, Central Java. Meseum owning photos collection, traditional equipments and slid of making herbal drink at the past, is located in 179 Setiabudi street, Srondol, Semarang town. This museum founded by Jamu Jago company as center of information and promotion result of jamu (Javanese traditional herbal drink). Meanwhile, this museum also collects notes about extraordinary achievements owned by the Indonesia people. [+]
This building was built by A.R. Kuhr E. and Van Leeuwen for the Raad Van Justitie or court for European citizens in Semarang city, around 1930. In 1950, The Indonesian army used the building as their office, and in 1985 it became a museum. It is located in the south Tugu Muda intersection complex. This museum offers many things about military history of Indonesia.
The late Ronggowarsito was a poet laureate of the Kasunanan palace of Surakarta in 19th century. His famous writing is "Serat Kalatidha" (Javanese Inscriptions) in which he portended about people's future conduct and some of the portents seem to have come true nowadays. The name of Ronggowarsito then is perpetuated for the name of the museum in Semarang town. [+]
Sam Poo Kong temple was built in reference of Admiral Cheng Ho, a Moslem and a great Admiral from Ming dynasty of China. He sailed to more than 30 countries including Semarang and Simongan more than hundreds years ago. The temple was built upon one of the Admiral’s artifacts. Visitors can pray here while a fate teller reads them their future. [+]
